According to South Korea’s Chosun Ilbo on August 3, Dongwha Pharm announced on the same day that it had purchased a 51% stake in Vietnamese pharmacy chain TRUNG SON Pharma for 39.11561 billion South Korean won, as a move to expand its presence in Southeast Asia’s pharmaceutical and beauty markets.
The company plans to expand TRUNG SON Pharma’s store network across Vietnam to 460 outlets by 2026. It will launch popular South Korean over-the-counter medicines including Whal Myungsu, Itchi and Pancol in Vietnam, followed by health functional foods and cosmetics in subsequent phases.
Founded in 1997, TRUNG SON Pharma operates more than 140 pharmacies across central and southern Vietnam, with annual sales reaching approximately 74 billion won in 2022.
